My passion in life is learning (and spreading that to others through teaching). I can help you (or your child) feel more of that passion for learning as well -- even for math! I primarily tutor Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, GED, Statistics, and Ecology for Wyzant so far.

My passion in life is learning (and spreading that to others through teaching). I can help you (or your child) feel more of that passion for learning as well -- even for math! I primarily tutor Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, GED, Statistics, and Ecology for Wyzant so far.
The first step of each tutoring session is to make sure the student feels comfortable and is able to focus. I typically assist my students with any current assignments or study needs from school work first. And I am happy to review material and/or offer additional practice problems. After each session, I keep notes about more challenging topics/skills to revisit them again to ensure mastery. If you prefer a different approach to your tutoring sessions, just let me know.
My education career includes 15+ years of teaching and tutoring at the middle/high school and college levels. Most of that time I have focused on algebra and critical thinking skills. My other passion is helping to protect our planet, so I teach ecology/environmental science as well. I have two master's degrees. Most recently, my graduate research focused on statistical modeling of ecological issues (all done in R).
I am also a certified teacher in biology for middle/high school. I recently passed a background check (but it wasn't through Wyzant, so it isn't displayed here).
My other academic achievements include graduating summa cum laude in undergrad; 3.96 GPA overall in my grad work; and 99th percentile score on the ACT.
Please ask me *any* questions you have. I am also available for a 15 min free initial consultation via video chat. While it is always most helpful to know at least a day in advance about cancellations/changes, random things do happen in life! There is no charge for cancelling with more than two hours' notice. If you must cancel a session within two hours of the scheduled start time (or you are a no-show), the charged rate will be half of the regular rate.

my daughter loves the lessons

Knowledgeable, nice and patient tutor

My daughter learned about algebraic equations, and area of types of figures with her tutor Polly. She is a very nice, and patient tutor. My daughter also says that she is really understanding and funny. Making her feel more secure about her studies. For sure she will continue having tutoring with Mrs.Polly.
