As a lifelong student myself, I love the opportunity to guide others in their education. Often, I learn more along the way as well! It's a joy to watch a student's eyes light up when something finally makes sense or when they realize how some information will benefit them down the road.
Most of what I teach comes from experience -- I've worked as an award-winning radio writer, a newspaper reporter, an editor and a public relations and marketing expert. I've helped people strengthen their writing and speaking skills both in a classroom and one-on-one. I believe knowledge increases your confidence. It prepares you not only for your career but for life.
I studied sign language for years and spent one year working with the deaf in Brattleboro, Vermont. Mostly, I would want to tutor on a novice level.
Besides minoring in English in college, I have taught English, literature, writing and speech at the high school and college level. In addition, I've led courses in radio production, writing professionally, marketing and acting/directing. Finally, I worked one-on-one with individuals wanting to improve their performance skills for special events.
Want to learn more? Feel free to contact me or simply schedule an initial lesson. Our first meeting could be over coffee or ice cream, depending on your preference, and we could simply see if it's a match. No charge. I look forward to studying with you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
