My name is Allan G. I am a passionate educator of all kinds of ages and learning types who has expertise in language (Greek, Latin, and beginning Hebrew), literature, and religion. I hold a Ph.D. in Theology from Fordham University. I am an experienced college professor and online educator as well as an experienced youth mentor. I have taught and tutored everything from church bible studies to graduate courses in ancient Greek. I have worked with youth groups and with elderly learning groups - and I am passionate about sharing my expertise across all kinds of educational levels, from the beginner to advanced students. I can help with language study (including test prep), composition, literature, and ancient history - but theology and biblical studies is my specialization.
I hold myself and my students to a standard of responsibility to our subject, so that our mutual interests can fuel our engagement with the subject. I attempt to mold our meetings around the needs of my students, adapting to different learning styles and responding creatively to difficult areas or troublesome topics.
I hope to develop long term tutoring relationships so that I can help students grow over time, and allow the skills that we discuss impact on other areas of learning - both in and out of school. I am free to travel locally, and prefer meeting in public places like coffee shops that lend a casual and stimulating environment for our lessons, and I can travel locally to convenient areas for the student. I have an understanding cancellation policy and hope to develop a cordial relationship with students that allows for flexibility.

$80 an hour is my base rate as a tutor with a specialized PhD - but I can negotiate this based on individual circumstance
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My area of specializing at Fordham University where I am getting my Ph.D. is "Christianity in Antiquity" covering classical culture, early Christianity, the New Testament and Hellenistic Judaism. I have broad expertise throughout the Bible, including 4 already-attained degrees in the subject. I am currently teaching a course in the New Testament online at Fordham university.
I am proficient in Latin and Greek, and I have done graduate work in Classics at both Fordham University and at New York University. I have presented original research at conferences in classics, and my dissertation for Fordham University engages significantly with classical culture.
I have passed my Greek proficiency at the Ph.D. level at Fordham university, where I am completing my Ph.D. My advisor is Dr. Larry Welborn. I have taught and tutored Greek for 10 years.
I have passed the WyzAnt Latin qualification exam, as well as research and write on Latin authors as a Ph.D. student at Fordham University. I am also great with kids and love working with beginners.
I am finishing my Ph.D. in theology at Fordham University. I have taught all kinds of courses on religion and theology at the college level, as well as worked in an educational capacity with church and youth groups. I am currently teaching a course in religion online for Fordham University.
