I've been teaching and tutoring for 40 years and have taught students from 4th grade to college. Much of the time, I've specialized in working with students who have learning problems but also taught at a university for 6 years and at a 2 year college for a year. Although I most enjoy teaching writing and reading, I'm qualified to teach math- particularly elementary.
Teaching has been my life. It has been a pleasure to watch students grow, change, and succeed.
I've had poems and short stories published in the U.S., England and Australia and taught an unusually wide range of students in my career. My background in both English and American Literature, as well as experience as an editor and art historian, give me unique qualities that offer a wide range of possibilities for tutoring.
I will be available for teaching from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. and can travel. My rate for in-person lessons is $75/hour and on-line is $55. Packages could be offered for a discount- contact me and we can negotiate. I've been teaching and tutoring for 40 years and have taught students from 4th grade to college. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
