I have been in the Educational field for over 16 years. I spent 14 years teaching at the Middle School level teaching primarily 7th grade Math and pre-algebra. I am 1-8 certified (old school license) but it also allowed me to teach History and Reading a few years too at the Middle Scool. Yet my PASSION lies in Math. I relate best to students who fall on the lower end of the grade level and honestly, as the years have gone on with the push of State testing, I truly struggle with losing my one on one time with my kiddos who need me!
For 2 years, I worked as a 4th grade teacher. Therefore I do have diversity in what I can help you with. I am a very kind, creative, not to mention a patient teacher as I was often handed the discipline kids as most teachers could not handle them. They always ended up loving me once they learned my boundaries, expectations and that I CARED. I, myself, have an AD/HD oppositional son. I have had YEARS of practice.
Diversity is key and is a part of live. We are NOT all the same in this cookie cutter world of what the Educational system has become because of State Mandated tests. You get what you pay for people say....I also don't believe in sucking the blood out of an open wound! I am NOT under qualified, I just don't believe in asking for ridiculous amounts when it truly is about the student. Now, let's get started!
As stated above, I am 1-8 certified and also Highly Qualified in Math, History, Reading for 7th grade. I am Highly Qualified in Math, Science, Reading, Language Arts for 4th grade. I have taught for 16 years. I also went up to Pre-Calc in High School. Recently I tutored a former JH student in High School Algebra I. I will be honest, I had to refresh myself from her book, notes, and went to internet but ALWAYS walk through students with steps and explanations!! She went from low D to A- for the class!
I've always given help kids with ADD/HD or Special Needs as the Special Ed teacher and I worked closely to modify assignments! I had no issues or problems making assignments attainable for success. Not to mention, I have a ADD/HD oppositional son. I have years of patience.
I was a 4 year varsity letterman in High School, a National AAU Champ 1992, 1993 Miss Basketball, Coached Basketball for 6 years.
I also coached Volleyball for 10 years and Track 11 years.
I am the easiest person to connect with. I am laid back with that humor that is funny but lame at the same time. Not to try to "seem cool" but think of that teacher you really like that you can talk to and trust to ask for help! That's me or that's what I am told and not by that one brown noser who sits front and center! Let's start working on what your student needs help with. Help me get the love of education back in my life too! Win, Win? I have been in the Educational field for over 16 years. I spent 14 years teaching at the Middle School level teaching primarily 7th grade Math and pre-algebra. I am 1-8 certified (old school license) but it also allowed me to teach History and Reading a few years too at the Middle Scool. Yet my PASSION lies in Math. I relate best to students who
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I coached Middle School Volleyball for 10 years. We won 6 PAC conference season titles, 1 PAC tournament title. The girls moved on to VERY successful seasons at the High School winning several PAC conference titles and advancing the farthest in tournaments than ever in school History!
Several of my players have gone on and continue to go play volleyball in college. I firmly believe starting a good foundation early filled with solid skill set, positive role modeling and building of self esteem is so crucial for girls during their teen years!
