Greetings! The fields of Archaeology, Anthropology and the Earth Sciences are nothing short of diverse and exciting. I have taught or assisted with Geology, Geography, Oceanography, Forensic Archaeology and General Earth Science, Geology Lab, Geography Lab, at a college level for nearly 4 years. Not only has my experience included the traditional in-class setting, I have taught completely online and hybridized classes. My tutoring experience has included students of all ages and backgrounds. My passion for science, as well as my independent research in geo-archaeology, adds experience and real world applications to my classes.
Students can overcome science anxiety! Socially there is a widespread acceptance of "math anxiety", but I have seen just as much fear and lack of confidence in the hard (and soft) sciences as well. One of my strongest gifts is to help you, the student, overcome this fear, build your confidence, and apply these subjects to your life. For example, what did you have for breakfast? Let me show you how is it connected to atmospheric disturbances, spatial distribution of services and goods, and geological phenomena.
I look forward to serving you!
My specialties fall within general Earth and Social Sciences. I have worked on over a dozen Archaeological Surveys in NE Ohio, as well as the Great Basin (CA) and Eastern India (Orissa), attended and presented research at numerous conferences, and most importantly, my students keep coming back for my classes.
One of the most common quotes from previous semesters:
"I was not science-minded and dreaded this class, but you made it approachable and I was able to understand the material" - Felipe G.
Let me assist you! Be it ocean sciences, anthropological theory, plate tectonics, and everything in between, I will do whatever I can to help you master the material.
Michelle hasn’t set a schedule.
