With my educational background in medicine, biomedical engineering and math, I have extensive knowledge of science, math, and their application. With regard to formal tutoring, I have over two years of experience. I have also helped peers with their studies throughout my undergraduate and graduate careers.
I am a very patient and positive person, who loves learning and helping others learn. My aim is to teach topics in an engaging and interesting way that is suited to each individual. Having 3+ years of industry/research experience, I am able to present the real-world importance and utility of concepts to help paint "the bigger picture." In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have experience tutoring Algebra 1 for approximately one year. I have completed courses in math through differential equations and have a firm grasp on the fundamentals taught in Algebra 1.
I have completed math courses through differential equations in my education and have a developed understanding of the concepts learned in Algebra 2. I have applied many of the ideas in my work and projects as an engineer and am very comfortable with Algebra 2 topics.
I have completed two semesters worth of Anatomy in undergrad, including labs, receiving A's in all portions. Many of the concepts taught came up in my graduate studies, as well as in projects or research, increasing my understanding and ability to apply Anatomy-related knowledge.
I have taken several courses in biology through school, including a graduate course encompassing in-depth explorations of many aspects of cell biology. I also have biology-related research experience, allowing me to expand on experimental techniques, data analysis and interpretation, and other applications of material.
I have completed courses in chemistry up through organic chemistry, receiving A's in all portions, including labs. Additionally, I have since prepared for the MCAT, placing in the 97th percentile in the Chemical and Physical Sciences section. I aim to make chemistry fun and bring out what makes the subject exciting and useful in everyday life.
