I am an American Sign Language Instructor and have been teaching ASL as a foreign language to university level students since 1991. I have taught at many school settings during my teaching career to deaf and hearing children and adults. I am ASLTA Certified and also hold SLPI- ASL – Superior Plus certificate.
Growing up deaf, after spending 11 years at a private deaf school learning how to talk and lip read, I attended a hearing high school for four years. I learned ASL when I was a teenager. Today, I communicate with a combination of speech reading and ASL. I’m a very animated person when I communicate using speech, ASL and expressions so hearing people can understand me easily.
As an ASL Teachers Association Certified Instructor (ASLTA) , I give classes on American Sign Language and Deaf Culture to interested adults who work with special needs, deaf and hearing children and students. I also offer trainings to professionals who work with Deaf Children and Deaf Adults.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am profoundly Deaf. Beside teaching hearing students, I am involved in Deaf Community. I am presently teach ASL as foreign language at the University of Akron and Stark State College. I hold ASLTA certification - Qualified level (American Sign Language Teachers Assocation) and SLPI (Sign Language Profiency Interview ) Superior Plus.
