Greetings! My name is Shelley and I've worked with students from 2 years old up into their 50s! I have ample experience teaching many skills necessary for musicians: ear training, theory, transcription, arranging, composing, history... the list goes on. As a performer, I play saxophone- baritone as my primary- and have taught privately for 10 years.
I've also worked as an Applied Behavior Analysis Therapist working with students with special needs.
As an educator, I love seeing the "aha!" moment in students. Learning can sometimes be difficult. You sit and work on something and it just doesn't quite make sense- but having someone to guide you towards the right answer or YOUR right answer makes a huge difference.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Saxophone and a Master of Arts in Education (MAE), Music. I am working on my Master of Music in Theory and Composition.
Please don't hesitate to reach out! I'm super chill and love working with students of any age. Lets learn something together! Greetings! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
