I have been working with children for the past 10 years in many different settings including my own classroom, after school, and one-on-one tutoring. My experience and background not only as an educator but also as a mother has taught me that with patience and understanding any child can learn given the necessary tools and support. I have extensive experience with children that have developmental disabilities, including the autism spectrum. I specialize in test prep tutoring and work with all elementary age and middle school students. I am also experienced in the Common Core curriculum standards. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor ADD/ADHD students because I am currently a special education teacher that has experience with all learning disabilities. I have worked one on one tutoring students with ADD/ADHD for the past 6yrs using methods that get results. I have a lot of knowledge and patience in teaching skills to these students. Organization and focus are key to success.
I have been a classroom teacher for the past 7 years for children with special needs including the autism spectrum. I have supervised and counseled many children one-to-one with autism. I am a supervisor for an after school program with Life's WORC agency for children with developmental delays including the autism spectrum. We work very closely with Autism Speaks and are developing our own Autism Center which will open in late spring supporting families of individuals with autism.
