I am an educator. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and a Master's Degree in Education. Adult education is my specialty; however, in addition to working in an administrative setting, I have also been tutoring elementary, middle and high school students including my children for many years. Most of the students I have had the privilege to assist were at risk of failing. I have implemented reading improvement, subject specific assistance, and confidence building that resulted in students' higher grades, homework assignment completion, and increased standardized test scores. With the "No Child Left Behind" mandates, students who are not meeting the standards will benefit from extra one-on-one or group assistance.
I believe that all students should have access to the best education possible. Many students are diverse learners and require a diverse style of teaching. Once engaged in diverse learning, your child will soar to new heights in learning. To achieve this goal, it is important to know the student's learning style.
The three types of learning styles are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Once the student's learning style has been identified, then the student is engaged in learning that would complement his or her learning style. This process will make a difference in the student's learning abilities.
I would like to assist your child in meeting the standards to excel in the subject areas that he or she finds challenging. The tutoring sessions will build your child's confidence and improve his or her study skills, grades, and test scores. With the extra help from Tutoring for Excellence, your child will reach his or her full potential. I am an educator. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and a Master's Degree in Education. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor K-6 as I have a Master's Degree in Education and research requirements mandated by Federal and State standards. I have implemented diverse instruction with various learning styles to develop highly qualified learning strategies to improve grades for learners of all ages. Tutoring many students of all ages including my children have allowed me to refresh my knowledge of the common core subjects and standards that are required.
As an adult educator, GED prep is one of my favorite areas. The GED subjects that I will tutor are Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, and Math. We will work diligently to achieve your goal in preparing for the GED exam.
Master's Degree in Education and over 15 years assisting students in K - 12th grade as well as college students with improving their reading comprehension skills and grades.
Although I hold a Master's Degree in Education, more specifically, Adult Education and Training, I would like to be of assistance in Sociology studies. Sociology identifies aspects of the human social behavior and the interactions of diversity. My training in Sociology extends from school to the workplace as I have spent several years working in a not for profit organization that serviced the economically challenged residents of the community.
I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology that incorporated Sociology courses in the program. In addition to my general subjects and Criminology subjects, I have studied in the following areas of Sociology: Introduction to Sociology, Cross Cultural Analysis, Sociology of Minorities, Social Deviance, Classical Sociological Theory, and Methods of Sociological Research. I have a total of 23 credits is Sociology and my Undergraduate Senior Seminar for Criminology is a sociologically based research. Sociology courses were required to help in understanding the causes of crime.
In addition to my education that included Sociology courses, I have worked in a community-based organization that specialized in crisis intervention and later transitioned into a family development organization. We serviced low income residents with educational programs and social service programs to motivate and empower change in the community.
