About Brandy

Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved education--and the opportunities it affords me in my life. From the privilege of working with a diverse group of people, I have grown to believe that educators must learn how to teach their students as students are. Consequently, my tutoring and teaching style is based upon the individuals I work with. We all see and interact with the world differently, and it is upon these foundations that I seek to build new understandings.

Throughout my educational experience, I remain as a top student in my classes--having completed my Associate's degree in Accounting with a 4.0 Cumulative GPA and maintaining my 4.0 into my present Bachelor's program: Green and Sustainable Enterprise Management. My passion for knowledge, and my commitment to education, has encouraged me to share my understanding with others to help them reach their goals and to show them that anything is possible if you put your mind toward it.

I believe that the will to take personal initiative and the commitment to hard work is all that is necessary for a person to learn--all that must be realized is the perspective from which problems are approached.

Mathematics has always been a passion of mine--from basic math to Calculus II. However, I am also fond of English Grammar and Mechanics, with a profound appreciation for well-written English. Advanced Placement History, Science, and Mathematics are included in my High School education, and school is what I know best. Critical Thinking and Philosophy are also areas in which I excel, and include important concepts essential to achieving common ground and attaining success.

I am compassionate and patient. Given the opportunity, I will put my heart and soul into ensuring your success because if you are not successful, how can I be?

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

As a full-time mathematics tutor (often Algebra), I am prepared to tutor elementary to college-level mathematics. My Associate's degree is in Accounting, and I completed Calculus I and II in high school with A+ on both exams. Statistics is another area I am quite familiar with.

AFOQT

I've spent much time tutoring the ASVAB, with special focus on the AFOQT section of the test itself. Not only do I specialize in Mathematics, but Word Knowledge and Reading Comprehension remain as areas of expertise. I've also worked with students on passing these tests for the Airforce, so I also have experience with mechanical knowledge so I'm well versed on the variety covered by this test overall.

Algebra 1

Having taken multiple mathematics courses throughout my educational career, Algebra has always remained as a deep passion of mine. Whether related to my Accounting as a student, business owner, and tutor or within Statistics, Calculus, Economics, etc., Algebra remains as the fundamental understanding necessary for application.

Given my experience and understanding, my appreciation for Algebra and helping others understand it's fundamental principles, is very important to me--as I know what a profound influence it has in many areas of life.

Algebra 2

Having taken multiple mathematics courses throughout my educational career, Algebra remains as a deep passion of mine. Whether related to my Accounting as a student, business owner, and tutor or within Statistics, Calculus, Economics, etc., Algebra remains as the fundamental understanding necessary for application.

Given my experience with mathematics, my appreciation for Algebra and helping others understand fundamental principles, is very important to me--as I know what a profound influence it has in many areas of life.

American History

As a University student, I've taken multiple history courses--including government and politics as a Political Science major my first year of college.

Regarding American History, I received an A+ GPA in a course focusing specifically on the social, economic, and political history of the United States. During high school, I was also in US AP History--so I am familiar with the depths of material covered, associated exams, requirements, and standards. Furthermore, I've tutored high school history in the past, and am more than confident with such material.

Astronomy

As a student myself, I have studied multiple Science courses. Within these courses, we have focused on essential aspects surrounding the horizon coordinate system, the origins of the universe, astronomical positioning (i.e., addresses), and other astronomical events. Furthermore, as a tutor, I have also spent time tutoring students in Astronomy successfully.

ASVAB

I took the ASVAB in high school, and scored a 95 (from my recollection). My mother had to tell the military, on multiple occasions, to stop calling the house. Then, about three years ago, I was interested in the AirForce, and decided to take the ASVAB again. The second time around, I scored a 96.

Throughout high school, I took courses, ranging from AP American History to Physics, Calculus, and Chemistry. Being that I also took Technology, my proficiency with electronics and associated concepts has proven invaluable during the ASVAB. I have tutored for over 10 years, and am confident that my experience in school, and with the ASVAB, will help another pass this test.

Biology

As a Bachelor's student pursuing a degree in Green and Sustainable Enterprise Management, science classes remain as part of my curriculum--and personal interest.

Since I was 12 years old, I have been involved with (and eventually responsible for) the management and coordination of family businesses, including a blacktopping company, restaurants, and daycare centers. From both personal and educational experience, I've been involved in ensuring the adherence of legal requirements, while promoting operational success. From behavioral knowledge, to vocabulary and conceptual understanding, most of my experience is business-related.

As a tutor, I spend much of my time working with PreCalculus and Statistics which furthers my application and understanding of Calculus--especially given that Statistics is often concerned with areas under curves as Calculus demands.

Chemistry

As a student, I have completed Chemistry courses in the past. I am familiar with elements, compounds, mixtures, and more--as these building blocks are essential to understanding chemistry. Furthermore, I've worked with bonds and ionization processes, along with being experienced in balancing chemical equations--amongst other things. As a tutor, I've helped several Chemistry students improve their knowledge of associated material.
