Welcome parents and students! The fact that you are here is the first step to improving your performance. I believe learning should be fun, and can be exciting in the right environment. Mental and physical fitness through hard work and discipline are the cornerstones of my approach.
About myself, I am currently a graduating senior at USCB earning a B.A. in Psychology. I have homeschooled my 2nd grade son (now in 4th), an emerging A student after his long struggle with the classroom environment. In my family's free time we go on adventures and field trips to local aquariums, museums, and historical sites. We also enjoy fishing, hiking and nature walks through our local nature trails. We enjoy exploring our community and building citizenship through knowledge and confidence.
I love gardening and raising different birds and I have 2 amazing dogs, one of which is a certified Emotional Support Animal. Teaching our children to actively participate in environmental projects and agriculture has proven to be fun, exciting and rewarding for kids and us adults too (I grew up in the country!).
I also enjoy traveling, and have been many places including an enriching year in Japan where I was able to experience a vastly different culture. I served 4 years in the United States Marines studying atmospheric science and meteorology supporting the Air Wing and also the Presidential Helicopter Squadron. I have an active Secret Security Clearance and a background check on file with WyzAnt.
I have lived many different places and have a wide range of life experiences to draw from that I can impart to others. I get great satisfaction out of helping young people become stronger students in areas they are struggling with.
Being both a student and parent has taught me a great sense of humor and patience. If you need tutoring, let me be the one to guide you on the path to success! Welcome parents and students! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a mother of a youngster that struggled early on, I am aware of the challenges that parents face in today's educational system. Not to worry though, with a lot of diligence and patience he is now doing excellent in all areas but this was tougher than teaching a teenager with great study skill! It is not easy to understand the basics of learning. Since we all learned how to read and write etc. early on, we don't really recall the "how" of it all. Above all though, the greatest challenge is getting kids to feel good about learning. Confidence building is the foundation for children to build their learning skills upon. If you are having trouble getting your young one to actually want to learn and have a positive outlook on school, or the concepts being utilized are elusive and confusing to you, let me help. I am currently homeschooling my 2nd grader to for no other reason than to ensure he receives the best education possible. I would be honored to do the same for yours.
