About Elizabeth

Hi, I am Elizabeth, and I graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. I am especially interested in Applied Mathematics, and in addition to the basics (Calculus I, Calculus II, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, etc.), my coursework included Probability, Statistics and Numerical Analysis.

I am very passionate about Math, and the only thing I enjoy as much as learning it is teaching it. I started tutoring Math in my first year of College, and I have experience in tutoring kids of various ages, ranging from Elementary School all the way through College. I noticed that a lot of times students do not take a lot of interest in Math and dislike this beautiful subject, because they are not taught on how Mathematical inventions came to be and what direct connection theorems have to the real world (in other words applications of Math); therefore, I always make sure to explain not only "How" to solve a problem, buy "Why" the solution works.

I never skip the slightest detail in my explanations, and have great patience because I understand that each person is different and all students learn at a different pace. I love to teach and I love to watch students' understanding of Math grow with my help.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
