During the past 30 years, I practiced law as a litigating attorney in the areas of civil rights, employment, and health law. I recently retired from the practice of law. I held the position of General Counsel of a state agency for part of the time I practiced law. I have also supervised college-level and graduate-school-level interns in internships involving researching and writing white papers as well as legal interns.
I presently attend graduate school, where am studying to earn an advanced degree. I plan to become a psychotherapist. Concurrent with my studies, I have been working this year as a substitute teacher in public schools (grades K-12). I enjoy working with students of all ages and skill levels.
I have worked with individuals with limited English proficiency as well as with native English speakers. Prior to attending law school, I taught English in a private high school. My job as an attorney has required 30 years' of persuasive and careful writing, as well as 30 years of public speaking. I have given public presentations on the local and national level. As General Counsel of an agency, and as Supervising Attorney of a public interest law firm, I have supervised many individuals with subpar writing skills and have taught them how to write well. I have also written many high-level papers in state government and edited others' written work. Some of the papers for which I was responsible were co-written by college students, whom I also taught many writing skills. More recently, I have been substitute teaching in public schools, which has included teaching English classes. I enjoy working with students and helping them improve their written and spoken English.
I have always scored very well on tests, whether they be the SAT, bar exams, or regular testing. I have passed multiple bar exams (in multiple states) and scored in the top 1% on the SATs. I am an excellent, methodical, and patient teacher who understands how to approach the concept of studying for a test and doing well. My own children ha
