Hello! I'm Eileen and I want to teach/tutor learners of all ages in the art of reading. Books and people are what I love most. I like reading in many different genres including poetry, biography, fiction, non-fiction and children's picture books. I believe that improved reading skills will transform your life into something you love. I am 54 years old and have worked as an elementary school librarian at Provost Elementary school in Provo, UT for the last 7 years. The 3 years before that I was employed at Provost as an individual student reading tutor. I really enjoy working with all ages and kinds of people.
It seems to me that when people come together to read, converse, study and solve life challenges, good things are bound to happen. I love being read to and reading aloud to others and believe this is an integral part in improving reading levels. I think writing, and journaling are skills that can also be built up when we increase our exposure to books, illustrations and ideas from around the world.
I am excited to explore the art of reading and comprehension, vocabulary building and writing with students and learners of all ages and disciplines. In my spare time I collect Newbery, Caldecott and Sibert award-winning books and postcards from places far and near.
I think I would make an outstanding reading and English tutor because #1 I like people so much. #2 I am dependable and really enjoy the work aspect of tutoring. # 3 I savor my own reading experiences and am outgoing enough to want to share things that interest me with others. #4 I believe in discovering what other people love and being able to use that to increase their abilities to study, learn, read, write and comprehend the exquisite English language.
I have raised 5 children of my own and worked with elementary/middle school children for the past decade and I never tire of meeting new people.
In a religious setting I have taught and served children from 18 months of age through adulthood in areas of literacy and learning. I am always seeking to improve my own skills and learn new things myself.
Please contact me if you want help with reading, vocabulary, comprehension or writing for you or your children. I would be glad to schedule lessons weekly or bi-weekly and work together with you to read better and improve other skills that will build an improved life for you and the people around you. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a collector of children's literature and enjoy fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, poetry and especially humor books. I would be happy to share my love of reading with your son,
