About Milton

Hi! I'm a Senior at New York University who loves reading and writing, and I first served as a private tutor in high school tutoring other students in my neighborhood, mostly on mathematics. I've also served as a tutor and volunteer for a community library in Accra, Ghana, one of the greatest experiences of my life.

As a student who has taken numerous years of additional study outside of the classroom on the weekends in a variety of courses, I am firsthand familiar with the unique importance of education and learning. I myself took weekly SAT Prep courses, devoting hours on from Saturday morning to evening doing practice exams and listening to tutors explain numerous problem sets.

Through high school and college, I have consistently maintained a strong academic standing and have ever striven to rise to the occasion whenever possible, knowing that every single test score, every single essay, every mistake you make and learn from, matters incredibly in the long term. While I come from a Chinese background (and received some education in China), I personally have come to much favor and prefer the American education system, which emphasizes individuality and creative expression over the mundane dryness of rote memorization that the former so espouses.

I have also been associated with a variety of clubs and organizations at NYU, including FAS Irish Studies, the Creative Writing Program, the Persian Society, the Philosophical Society, and the Youth Evangelical Fellowship. Language-wise, I am fluent in English, Chinese and French, as well as possessing a more limited knowledge of Spanish.

In addition, I have been to a plethora of different countries myself, including but not limited to Mexico, France, Great Britain, Japan and Russia, with a strong diplomatic family background (my father once worked in the Chinese Foreign Ministry and is currently employed in the United Nations, and I myself briefly attended the United Nations International School), and a rich international outlook and diverse perspective that I believe both New York University and New York City share in abundance.

Apart from spending time assisting in the office of the Plainview Chinese School (a weekend school to enrich Chinese culture and learning), I myself have worked before as Private Tutor on a call basis, going to the homes of students who were struggling academically and helping them with both homework assignments and studying for difficult examinations. Truly, I must say, nothing gives one greater pleasure and pride than watching one's students succeed in the classroom and beyond. During this summer, I expect to be free any day of the week during the afternoons, so time should not at all be a problem.

Anyway, I am eager to provide my services to just about anyone and everyone who is in need of them. Good education is necessary for future success in today's society, and I promise I will ardently strive to provide just that.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

I am currently an Undergraduate History Major at New York University's School of Arts and Sciences. In addition, I am also an AP Scholar, and I have a great personal passion for research into many fields of history, including that of the United States. If you hire me, I promise I will do I can to share my love for history and help you better understand and learn it.

SAT Reading

I myself am a avid reader and writer in my spare time, and a lover of bookstores and libraries in general. English was my favorite and strongest subject in high school, and I received a score of 760 out of 800 on the SAT Exam. I will do all I can to help you comprehend and learn this incredible language and prepare yourself for the Standard Aptitude Test if you let me!

World History

I have taken and done very well in multiple AP courses on History, including U.S., European and World History since the 9th grade. In addition, I myself am a History Major from New York University, having taken nearly ten different courses on the subject. What is more, I have a personal passion for researching and learning more about the past, for I strongly believe it shapes the world around us today.
