In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As a School Counselor for the last 18 years, I have worked with many students regarding study skills, techniques to aid in studying, and test taking skills. I have facilitated a school success group that helps students create a place to study, manage time to include studying, staying focused when studying, and utilizing techniques to improve studying. These techniques include reading, writing, and rewriting. They also include developing study aids and studying in groups to help with repetition of material. These techniques also engage students by helping them utilize different learning styles and multiple forms of study to help them stay focused and motivated.
