I am a retired teacher who has over 40 years of teaching experience. I have taught students in grades from kindergarten thru college/university.
I have a BS degree in sociology/social work and a MS degree in Education. I was a college professor and instructor of various topics and activities, and the Department Manager for an agency serving adults with developmental disabilities.
I hold multiple certifications in sports such as tennis, swimming, & skiing. I am a PSIA- certified in Alpine, Adaptive and as a Child Specialist instructor.
My teaching styles match my students learning styles! I have extensive experience with special needs populations and was associated with the Special Olympics Foundation for many years. I take great personal satisfaction in seeing students master new and challenging skill sets both in and out of the traditional classroom setting. The number of classes I have taught over the years are too numerous to describe but I have clearly demonstrated an proven track record for being able to relate to students of all ages and bring them to their desired goals.
Please note that my passion is horses and I am typically away at shows from May thru Sept.on later weekdays & weekends so my schedule needs to be flexible. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am a retired dept. manager for a not for profit agency located in the Mid-West that serviced adults with developmental disabilities, many of whom were autistic.
Additionally, I have over 30yrs. teaching experience in the private education sectors (K-college) and have taught numerous courses relating to the autism spectrum. I have directly interacted (taught/supervised) with children and adults in the traditional classroom as well as in outdoor settings for many years. I'm well versed in the accommodations that are specific to the autism spectrum and can adjust my teaching style to meet their learning style.
Over my 30 years of teaching in the private education sectors (K-college), I have had many students with dyslexia. Patience, understanding and communication with them have resulted in creative ways to enhance their learning experiences. I have played an integral role in directing them to services that were available to them in the academic setting. I can easily adjust my teaching style to meet the specific learning style of students with dyslexia.
As a retired college professor, I have written and evaluated countless papers written by students. My emphasis has not only been on subject content but also the use of proper grammar. Writing across the curriculum has always been paramount in my teaching.

All of these jobs have entailed a high degree of public speaking (lectures, presentations, recruiting, etc.) as well as teaching/coaching my staff, students and clients on how to effectively present themselves in public settings. Specifically, I have been a job coach, staff trainer, instructor trainer and supervisor of student interns in the traditional classroom, business, or outdoor settings.
