Hello! My name is Sarah. I am currently a student of physics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. I have been tutoring students since high school, ranging from elementary mathematics to AP Calculus, and am eager to share my passion for math and science with bright, young minds. I currently work as a Physics I teaching assistant and lab facilitator, and believe that hands-on learning is essential for the foundation of true understanding. I find that math and the sciences can be difficult to understand upon first exposure, and when teachers do not have the resources to provide individual support to their students, confusion and a dislike for STEM subjects begins to form. I enjoy working with students to find ways of explaining material that spark interest and create a lasting understanding.

In my six years of tutoring, I have worked with each student’s individual learning style and used models, original videos, flashcards, worksheets, and more depending on the subject. Whether it is finding a way to visually interpret the concept of limits, or creating charts on the logical process to solve thermodynamics word problems, I strive to find the best ways to break down difficult topics into more manageable and understandable pieces.

Math and science has an ever increasing importance in the world, and I want to help lay the foundation for the next generation of great scientists, mathematicians, and engineers.

Science and Math tutor

Sarah was patient and fun. She gave my daughter some things to try and left her feeling better about herself and the material. Positive reinforcement as well as steady redirecting helped the lesson go very well.

Great Physics II tutor

My son as well as I rarely if ever give 5 star ratings, however he has had nothing but positive comments specific to his interaction with Sarah and continues to gain confidence regarding the subject matter. Great to have a tutor who actually connects with the students. Kudos!

Patient and Inspiring

Sarah tutored my daughter in Physics and although it's still early on in the process she was ecstatic about their first meeting. Sarah came prepared and was able to help my daughter gain more confidence with topics she had really been struggling with.
