My name is Meghan, and I currently teach fifth grade in Troy, NY. In addition I am highly motivated and enthusiastic. I genuinely enjoy working with children of all ages and have a strong passion for teaching. I know that I have what it takes to truly make a difference in students’ lives. I truly believe by having a Bachelors of Science in both Early Childhood Education (B-2) and Childhood Education (1-6) with NYS Certification in both, and Masters of Science in Special Education- Inclusion that I can help students' achieve great academic success.
I consistently incorporate different learning styles within my teaching and look at each student as an individual learner. My creative style of teaching allows each student to learn the material in their own unique way and find the ability to express themselves. The students genuinely enjoy learning and I genuinely enjoy teaching each and every day.
I have the previous academic background to tutor English as well as a passion for reading and writing. I took on English as my concentration in college to continue my love for reading, writing and studying various forms of literacy. Also, not only have a learned various teaching techniques for teaching English, I have years experience teaching literacy ages 3-12.
I have taught grades Prek-sixth for many years: student teaching, substitute teaching, universal peek, middle school charter school and now fifth grade general education. Through all the experiences I have learned various teaching techniques and tools. I love teaching elementary subjects and reaching each child as an individual learner. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am highly qualified for the elementary tutoring for various elementary subjects. I have a bachelor degrees in both early childhood and childhood education with certifications in both, B-6. I also have a masters in special education- inclusion, which aids in my abilities to teach different level students. I have taught grades prek-6th and have a great deal of teaching experience, resources, and strategies.
