About Michael

I graduated from the University of Buffalo Honor College May 2015 magna cum laude with a BS chemical engineering and minors in physics and math. During my undergraduate I had a 3.73 GPA and have received A's in calculus, multivariable calculus, differential equations, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, Newtonian physics, fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, separation processes, chemical reactor engineering, nuclear reactor engineering, chemical plant design, and many more. I conduct study sessions each semester for a group of my fellow classmates to help everyone reach their potential. I will be starting a physics Ph.D track at UB in the Fall and eventually intend to work as a research professor at a top university such as UB. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemical Engineering

This past spring I finished my senior capstone for chemical engineering at the University at Buffalo. I have a 3.67 GPA over all and have received A's in all major chemical engineering classes such as mass transfer, heat transfer, separation processes, and our capstone class Chemical Plant Design.

Differential Equations

I have mastered differential equations during my time studying chemical engineering. Not only ordinary differential equations but numerical methods to solve hyperbolic, parabolic and elliptic PDEs.

Organic Chemistry

As a chemical engineer all types of chemistry is needed, organic more so than some others. It is important to not only know that a reaction will occur but have an idea of the mechanism behind it so that the scale up from a lab size operation to an industrial sized operation is done most efficiently. That being said, organic chemistry is not the impossibly hard class it is made out to be. With proper study techniques and understanding of the underlying mechanisms anyone can achieve the grade they desire.

Great tutor! — Michael was my son's physics tutor for AP Physics (senior year). Michael had a very flexible schedule and was easy to reach, which was important because my son has a very busy academic, extracurricular, and work schedule. Michael worked with my son in AP physics for a few months leading up to the AP exam in May. Personality and connection are important in these situations, and Michael 'clicked' ...
