About Tyler

I'm a recent graduate from Franklin University Switzerland, where I majored in Environental Science. My time abroad has instilled in me excellent intercultural and interpersonal communication skills. I have a strong work ethic, and I love working with kids! Watching children grow to love a subject that they previously struggled in can be extremely rewarding, and I have experienced this sense of pride numerous times throughout my career as a tutor.

Throughout my time in Switzerland, I tutored math and science to local Swiss children, in both English and Italian. However, I began tutoring back in high school (in New York), where I tutored math, science, Italian, and history. In addition to my tutoring experience, I have worked as a camp counselor for four years, working with autistic and special-needs campers from the ages of 5-16. My extensive background working with children of all ages and from different ethnic backgrounds makes me a unique candidate to tutor your children.

Having studied environmental science for my undergraduate degree, I have had the opportunity to use and apply mathematics every semester. My undergraduate thesis research was dependent upon the results of the statistical analyses I performed, and so I have a lot of experience in higher level math. I have sharpened my basic mathematic foundations (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, etc) through tutoring these subjects throughout my college career, ensuring that my math skills are up to par across all fields. Since I studied science, I am aware of not only how to perform mathematic operations, but how to apply math to real world scenarios; when children question when they will ever have to use math in their future, I am able to explain how to use these concepts in the real world, motivating them to learn even more.

As all children are different, I understand that each child needs a different approach when being tutored. Therefore, I understand that my tutoring style needs to be molded to fit the learning needs of each individual that I tutor. I am confident that I can adapt my teaching style in a way that works for your child. My schedule is flexible, and I am willing to take the time that you need in order to make sure your child succeeds.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
