I have over 25 years of experience in the photography field and teach photography classes to individuals and groups. As a working commercial photographer, I have a unique perspective on the photography industry as well. The advent of digital photography has made it possible for anyone to be a photographer, but to be a great photographer requires a knowledge of lighting and composition and a sense of timing as well. I teach basic photographic concepts in a fun environment and can help you to understand how your digital camera works too. For the more advanced photography student, I can offer insights on special lighting situations and the best way to photographic difficult scenes and objects to demystify the world of photography. Nancy is an incredible tutor. I have been struggling through the years to learn the basics of photography so that I can take better pictures. Nancy was able to provide information in a concrete way that was easy to understand. The information finally "clicked" (no pun intended). I would recommend Nancy to anyone who is interested in learning about photography!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a commercial photographer, I've been actively using Photoshop since it's first release, and am constantly amazed at what it can do. I have taught non-photographers, children, and photographers alike to use the program.
I have over 25 years of experience in the photography field and teach photography classes to individuals and groups. Photography today really isn't much different from when the first cameras were made. The basic premise is one of a lens, which focuses light onto some flat plane, which is either covered with film or a digital sensor. When the light gathers, an image is created, which can then be reproduced in some way. The advent of digital photography has opened the world to photographers of all skill levels because it's so accessible. When teaching photography, I like to start with the basics that haven't changed since the dawn of the craft, and help students to understand that the camera is simply a tool to showcase their creativity. Whether they choose to shoot film or digital images, I can help them to reach their potential.
