Graduated UF Spring '19 with a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Physics. I've been tutoring Calculus for over 3 years now. I also served as a Learning Assistant for Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 at UF my senior year. Not only is it rewarding to help give students an appreciation for math and science, but tutoring also helps me to gain a better core understanding of the material myself. This better understanding allows me to explain things more clearly. As Einstein said, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."
Therefore, I can approach explaining a problem in many different ways. If you don't understand a certain explanation, I can offer explanations with varying degrees of rigor depending on whether you just want to know enough to pass the class, get an A, or understand it well enough to teach it yourself. Also, I have a strong intuition for what may be going through a students head when they don't understand something. This means that even if you don't know how to put into words what you don't understand, I can still usually figure out whats giving you trouble and try to help.
I've always had a natural talent for math, but that's not to say that I don't understand what issues someone who struggles with it might face. I'm familiar with math all the way up through multivariable calculus, ordinary and intermediate differential equations, set theory, mathematical logic, linear algebra, abstract algebra, complex analysis, and real analysis. I'm also familiar with the introductory physics with calculus sequence, thermodynamics, statistical physics, modern physics, undergraduate and graduate classical mechanics, intermediate electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and particle physics.
So if you're interested please contact me and we can try to schedule something that works, my schedule is pretty flexible.
