Hello, my name is Dawn. I enjoy teaching others the joy of reading & reading comprehension. I was a GED tutor for two years at The Brooklyn Tabernacle Church. I was given a group of six adults, ranging in ages from 17 to 65 years old.
Everyone learns differently, so I taught each student differently, according to their areas of strength & weakness.
I try to make the learning experience fun! Learning is challenging, and yes, sometimes hard; however it is my goal to teach, motivate you, also challenge you as you embark on this journey of learning and empowerment. I would like to be a part of your learning experience!
I taught HSE classes at my church for two years, 2 times a week. I have a BA degree in Human Service from City University. I've taught all five of my adult students to read, and they are avid readers like myself.
If given the opportunity, I would love to tutor you, and make the experience of learning exciting, and challenging, but also fun. I can be reached between the hours of 10:00am-6:00pm, Monday-Friday.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
