Columbia University (Biomedical Eng)
I have three years of experience tutoring family and friends in math and science in preparation for regents, AP exams, the SAT, and even just keeping up with daily coursework. I have recently taken the courses which I am eager to tutor in, meaning not that I am inexperienced in teaching the material, but that I have a fresh perspective and winning strategies to tackle each course and exam. I am energetic and very motivated, finding tutoring to be a very rewarding experience. I find personal accomplishment in each student's success.
Having recently taken these math courses, I know a few tips and tricks to make the information make sense. Math is about understanding, not memorization, and when presented in the right way can (maybe, hopefully!) be an enjoyable experience. I am currently a sophomore at Columbia University's School of Engineering and Applied Science, studying Biomedical Engineering. Math and science are integral parts of my own education, and I have found that material is learned though persistent practice and guided review. I will be well equipped with practice problems and strategies, even additional problems for you or your child to do at your leisure, if requested.
You want results, and I am dedicated to working with you to achieve them. I look forward to being in contact with you! Farah and I went over Algebra and Trigonometry. She was very patient and really knew how to explain the problems we were doing. Farah really helped me to understand why I got something wrong and presented a different approach in order to get it right. I really benefited from my session with Farah and I am looking forward to our next one.
Farah was very patient with all of my questions. She taught me how to do things algebraically rather than on the calculator. I felt comfortable telling her when I didn't understand something. I appreciate her help.
Farah has a very sweet and calm personality, no rush and will review as much as needed. She helped me in understanding math problem I couldn't do on my own.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
