A little about me...
Over the past decade I have worked as an international college counselor and clinician in New York, London England and Geneva Switzerland. Most recently, prior to returning to the United States, I was the Head of the Guidance Services for an international day and boarding school in Switzerland, College du Léman. The student body is international representing all regions and in particular, students from the United States, Asia, Africa and Europe As the sole counselor for more than one hundred senior students applying to colleges and universities worldwide, I am accustomed to a demanding work load, with diverse populations and varying academic needs. Even now as an independent counselor, there is no student, regardless of needs, that I can not help succeed in the application process, and GET INTO the best fit college for their academic goals and career dreams.
My responsibilities at College du Leman included the provision of counseling services to young men and women on advanced education opportunities. Further, I coordinated several on-campus college fairs and hosted numerous college representatives in their recruitment of potential students for their schools throughout the school year. I am a member of NACAC, ECIS, OACAC and SGIS professional organizations, and attended their professional conferences annually. This allowed me the opportunity to interact with other professionals on both sides of the admissions process. Over the past years I have also had the opportunity to visit over 100 college and university campuses, nationally and internationally, further increasing my knowledge of current admissions practices.
I have wide and varied college counseling experiences, which further support my ability to counsel students throughout the college application process. I know the truth about standardized exams as I served as the Advanced Placement and SAT coordinator and supervisor. I administered both of these exams as well as supervised a support staff. I was also responsible for translating high school transcripts from all over the world and for converting them into the American academic credit system. I am also familiar with TOEFL Exams and the score requirements for admission to American and international colleges and universities. Any and all of these exams may matter in the admissions office, however they are not the most important component of your application. YOU ARE!!! And you are awesome( I know because you have dreams and ambitions and are GOING TO COLLEGE!)- let me help you help the admissions officers know this too.
Finally, I am a strong advocate for higher education and highly recommend that American students spend at least one year of study abroad. Nothing could be better! HOW TO GET INTO COLLEGE 101...GET A PERSONAL COLLEGE GUIDANCE COUNSELOR WHO WILL MAKE THE APPLICATION PROCESS FUN!!!
