Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

Played tee-ball/baseball/softball from the time I was five years old until I was 18 and graduated from High School. I played for various teams over the years. I am also aware of the rules and regulations for the sport.

Basketball

Have played basketball from the second grade for the CYO. I was also a coach for a co-ed kindergarten team for four years and a third and fourth grade boys team. I am confident in my knowledge of the sport and enjoy playing the game.

Cooking

A hobby of mine is cooking and baking. From breakfast to dessert and anything in between. Recipes are a key component in cooking and baking and provide the chef with the support they need for producing food.

Elementary (K-6th)

Certified teacher in Birth-Grade 2 and Special Education Grades 1-6. Experience working in various preschool settings including toddlers, twos, threes, and up; as well as Kindergarten and first grade classrooms in low income neighborhoods and title one schools.

Football

I have assisted a boys football team at various practices. I am also a faithful football fan and watch games as well as attend them regularly. I am very familiar with the rules and game play as well.

Phonics

Experience with teaching phonics in Pre-K-Grade 1. Phonics is the basis for all reading skills and with a strong focus on phonics in early years it prepares children for reading in the future. As a student at CSI I have taken many courses grounded in teaching reading fundamentals and phonics to students at various ages.

Softball

Played tee-ball/baseball/softball from the time I was five years old until I was 18 and graduated from High School. I played for various teams over the years. I am also aware of the rules and regulations for the sport.

Special Needs

I have teaching experience working with students with disabilities in a preschool and after school program for the past four and a half years. I have worked in one-on-one, inclusive, and pull out settings. I have experience dealing with children with Austism Spectrum Disorder, ADD, ADHD, Emotional Disturbance, Behavior Problems, Speech and Language Impairments, Developmental Delays, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Learning Disabilities; all at varying ages.

Study Skills

I have devised multiple unit plans focusing on study guides. Studying skills include index cards/flash cards, writing and rewriting, oral repetition, reading and rereading, highlighting, retelling and summarizing, to name a few.
