About Rachel

I have 10 years of experience in elementary and high school levels, working with a wide range of children and adolescents. I strive to improve students' confidence and skills, as well as introducing new concepts and making learning as fun as possible. When a child is engaged and motivated, that is when the real learning occurs!
I have prepared students for their ELA and SAT and assisted them in improving both their vocabulary and reading comprehension.

I specialize in the following subjects:
*reading
*writing
*vocabulary
*history
*social studies
*literature/classics

I have my Master's Degree from Boston University and my Bachelor's Degree in Education from CUNY College of Staten Island. I currently work with children in a therapeutic capacity and would incorporate my techniques to each individual child's learning style.

Would love to work with your child!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Hebrew

I speak fluent Hebrew, have lived in Israel for two years, and got 100 percent on the Hebrew Regent as well as using Hebrew as the language exemption at my college.

I am fluent in both Hebrew and English and would be able to help beginners in basic and intermediate Hebrew grammar and vocabulary.
