Thanking my teachers for the lessons they taught me, I live a life of learning and bring out the best I can in others.
My first love was always writing. The art of language brought me immeasurable pleasure. Seeing, hearing, listening and feeling - putting those senses into words was magic. Using the advances of the the computer age just added to the skills of reading, writing and publishing.
I taught for many years as a language arts teacher with the traditional methods of assigning text books, workbooks and homework. With the new addition to the classroom, the computer, my students in grades kindergarten to high school had the innovation we came to know as the internet. Suddenly, research took on a new meaning and the students came to know how to use use it faster than their parents could!
My classroom years specifically where in the seventh and eighth grades teaching language arts. I am proficient in MAC computers and some of their products. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold four teaching certificates in New York as well as New York City. They qualify me as a K through six elementary school teacher and administrator. I have taught for thirty years in the NYC public school system.
Currently I am a part time adjunct for Empire State College in Staten Island, New York.
Since 1977, I have been a teacher, staff developer and adjunct professor. All of these positions require extensive public speaking skills. Poise, enunciation, eye contact plus many other skills are necessary for successful speaking in public.
I have two Master's degrees in public school administration and educational technology. My major teaching experience has been in Communication Arts (reading, writing, speaking, listening).

I am a recent retiree. I spent 30 years as a classroom teacher, staff developer and technology technician for the New York City public schools.
My experience includes, language arts, mathematics, science and related elementary subjects.
My methodology included organizational skills first, followed by content area teaching and subsequent assignments out-of-school. I use interactive technology with all my lessons.
