About Farai

My passion for tutoring started all the way during my high school year at Sandringham high school, Zimbabwe. Math had always been my greatest strength and I enjoyed it so much that I started to help out my fellow peers. I am no stranger to hard work, as that's how I got where I am at today. I am currently a junior at Stonybrook University where I am pursuing a degree in Applied Math and Statistics with a 3.82 GPA. I have over 5 years experience including volunteer work and about two year tutoring professionally. There is nothing in this world that makes me feel good about myself and that I am a part of something great in society than helping the society with my expertise. That big smile you get after accomplishing your goals for yourself and your student is the best feeling ever.

I have a better understanding of what it takes to excel in all Math courses. It is not rocket science at all. All it takes is knowing the right tools and skills to be great. I instill deep understanding of the material that will not only prepare my students for exams but will also help them in the real world. I help students with critical thinking skill, understand math concepts and know it is better to understand them than to memorize them.

I specialize in Math mainly on the following areas: Test preparation, algebra 1 & 2, Pre-algebra, trigonometry, Pre-calculus and statistics. Any kind of high school math, I am your guy. I take pride in what I do and I do best at what I do. I do evaluate my student's progress as we go along and I do this by giving them some homework after every session. This is for me to see where they are and for them to get some much needed practice. Math is all about practice. Math is fun once you get the right skill set and I have always been good at getting my students to see math that way

If you are interested in a tutor with excellent experience of teaching Math and a caring, supportive approach, then please contact me. My aim is always to raise the achievements of my pupils beyond their own expectations with challenging and rewarding lessons. Remember "Hard work Yields Good Results."

I hope to hear from you

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra represents the first subject matter that typically introduces more advanced algebraic concepts and functions. This usually turns away most students because they cant stand the level of difficulty and change. With proper, customized instruction, even students who view themselves as being bad with numbers can see improvement in their understanding as a one-on-one tutoring, I will provide the best environment for building these critical quantitative skills.

Algebra 2

This course is designed to build on algebraic and geometric concepts. It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, quadratics, and concepts and includes the study of trigonometric functions. It also introduces matrices and their properties. The content of this course are important for students’ success on both the ACT and college mathematics entrance exams. All my students have done great in the class which in turn made their later exams easy. it is a little bit more complex but with my help i will make it that one easy thing that you ever done.

Prealgebra

As a math person, I know that most people aren't 'math people.' Part of the reason for this is that math is not being taught in context. When students see math as useful in real life decision making, the concepts are easier to understand and to solidify. As a Math Major i know what it takes to succeed is this subject. It is not as hard as it look once you know all the right skills to use. I will work with you 100% and make you fall in love with Math again.

SAT Math

SAT is one of those crucial exam for all high school students who are looking to get into college. I will help you with exam preparation and the techniques you need to pass the exam. I took the exam and scored a perfect score so i know what it takes to excel in this.

Trigonometry

Who cares about a cosine anyway? I mean it is so hard to understand the concept of Trigonometry without proper teachings. The truth is there are simple ways to visualize trigonometry that are extremely effective and the concepts contained behind all the math terms are critically important for understanding spatial relationships, angles, and periodic motion.
