He also performed as concertmaster and soloist for the Montclair Chamber Ensemble in the year of the orchestra’s inception (1990), and in 2003. Nick has worked with symphonies all over the United States, including Dallas Opera, Shreveport Symphony, Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Albany Symphony and Syracuse Symphony. In 2005 he participated in the Festival Orchestra in Jimena de la Frontera, Spain. Since the summer of 2006, Nick performs in the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival Orchestra as chamber musician, festival orchestra, teacher and chamber music coach. He also holds a large private studio in Northern Westchester County, NY.

In addition to his career as a symphonic violinist, Nick also performs regularly as a recitalist and soloist. In January 2007 he performed a complete unaccompanied solo recital at Wesley Hall in Montgomery, NY, which included works by Bach, Ysaÿe and Paganini. Nick has also performed as soloist with the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra with a world premier of Margoshes’ New Hungarian Rhapsody, also in 2007 where the Times Record Herald stated, “It was a melodic delight, full of sensual, sonorous and appealing effects, and the audience greeted it with bravos and a standing ovation.” In 2009, Nick performed the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Cortlandt Chamber Orchestra and in January 2010 he played the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Northern Westchester Symphony Orchestra. More recently in May 2010, he performed Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy and Massenet’s Meditation from Thaïs with the Gateway Orchestra to which a critic wrote, “Time and space do not allow for a more insightful review of Nicholas A.’s spectacular playing...virtuosity combined with a natural flair made for absolute magic in a dazzling display of style, substance and showmanship!”

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Cello

I have performed as an orchestral musician with cello for the last several years. I have had students perform in recitals.

Ear Training

I've experienced a music conservatory background since before my teen years. At Manhattan School of Music I studied ear training and still use those method books to this day. I keep my perfect pitch and ear training in practice and train others to do the same.

Guitar

I have performed as a guitar soloist with symphony orchestras. I have made recordings in many different genres with guitar and have had students perform in recitals now for over 20 years.

Piano

I have studied piano since age 14 and have had students perform in recitals now for over 20 years. At Manhattan School of Music I studied composition.

Violin

I have been playing violin since age nine and have performed as an orchestral musician, soloist and chamber musician professionally for the last three decades.

Awesomeness!

I just started lessons with nick and he is an incredible teacher! He breaks things down in a very easy to understand way. His lessons are structured in such a way that really maximizes productive learning through technique, repertoire, etc, as well as how to apply these things during independent practice for the best time management benefit. I've studied piano with several teachers over the years
