I'm a full-time college student, volunteer EMT with a passion for passing on my knowledge and helping others understand things better. My love for teaching comes from teaching younger students martial arts, which I do hold a black belt in. Aside from that, I was the training officer at one of my ambulance corps, in charge of training all the new members. I'm very passionate about passing on my knowledge and I hope I can help people understand things better and give them that "Oh!" moment!
I'm sure that my sessions will help students see an improvement in their test scores and self confidence as their understanding of the material increases with each session. Teaching is more than just explaining the steps in the process, it's putting things in such a way that would make the student grasp the idea and be able to wrap their head around it.
Through being in honors English classes in high school and constantly receiving high marks on my assignments, I've worked privately with my teachers to master as well as I can all of the tools that are taught today in the classroom.
In high school, I was admitted into the Foreign Language Honor Society following my high grades in French and Italian which I studied simultaneously. I scored an A+ on the French, Spanish and Italian NYS Regents Tests. Teaching languages is always more fun because there's more than numbers and words, there's sentences and ideas that can be mixed and matched to culminate into a fun learning environment. Teaching is no fun when it's the instructor speaking to the student, rather it has to be a conversational dialogue, and that's what I'm good at creating, and that's what will ultimately lead to the student's success.
I'm generally available every weekday after 3:00 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays any time throughout the day. I'm very flexible given enough time in advance. My goal is to keep my students engaged and focused the entire session, through laughter and hopefully getting to know each other, to make the students more comfortable and willing to learn. I hope to hear from you soon!! I'm a full-time college student, volunteer EMT with a passion for passing on my knowledge and helping others understand things better. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
During training for my black belt test, we had to pass a stringent physical fitness test to be candidates for the test. Aside from that, I am a certified EMT so I also know what could hurt the body and do harm rather than be a good workout and how to be careful when working out.
I've been studying martial arts for 13 years now, specializing in TaeKwonDo, MushinDo, and defensive techniques. I hold a black belt in MushinDo.
