In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I earned a BS in Elementary Education in 2010 from SUNY Cortland. Since then I have worked 2 years in public schools in Spain at those levels. I have also given private classes to children in ELA. The years that I was not working in a public school, I was working in a private school with children ages 3-6, assisting them with math, science, geography etc.
