Albany College of Pharmacy (Enrolled)
I am a pharmacy student with a passion for science and education. Before starting pharmacy school I attended Brandeis University where I took a liberal arts curriculum and pre-med courses. I started working in a pharmacy and was then motivated to pursue a career in pharmacy instead of medicine. I transferred to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and have been happily pursuing my doctorate in Pharmacy since then. I am also working towards an MBA in Health Care Management from Union Graduate College concurrently with the PharmD.
I believe that students learn best when they are excited about a subject and are best motivated by positive reinforcement. I plan to incorporate my passion and excitement for learning into my tutoring. I delight in planning lessons and activities related to educational concepts in order to engage students.
I also have experience working with high school students and I feel very comfortable with the subject matter and would be pleased to tutor any high school level science, math or history courses. Keep in mind that summer is a great time to get ahead! I would be happy to work with students in preparation for next school year or in conjunction with summer school!
Finally, I have experience tutoring college level courses in science, the health sciences, and business. I tutor pharmacy students through programs in my school and have worked with pre-med students, med students and nursing students.

I was very pleased with how easy it was to set up the initial tutoring session with Amelia.
According to my grandson, she is patient and clear, and he is looking forward to the next lessons.
Amelia got right to work and my daughter was very comfortable with her from the start. They worked on a worksheet together for a test the next day. Great results! My daughter could not believe that she "got it" after Amelia explained it to her in a way she could best understand!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra I is a critical subject for students to begin honing their algebra skills in preparation for future, more complicated math classes. In Algebra I students become acquainted with common mathematical symbols, concepts and ways of thought. Algebra I can be a really exciting course as students begin to understand the way math can really effect the world around them!
As a pharmacy student, chemistry is at the core of everything I have studied. My passion for science combined with my depth and breadth of knowledge provides me a broad context from which I can assist students of all levels. I believe in providing examples, teaching topics in a variety of different ways to suit each students unique learning style, and making science fun.
I have taken a general microbiology course at Albany College of Pharmacy as well as Bacterial Pathogenosis which focuses on the virulence mechanisms and pathogenicity of bacteria as well as the host mechanisms of defense against bacteria. I am experienced with working in a lab. I am extremely comfortable with the subject material.
I am a third year pharmacy student, and I have taken and passed Organic Chemistry I and II with lab. I have successfully proceeded through the program applying organic chemistry in courses such as biochemistry and pharmaceutics.
I graduated with an advanced Regents diploma in 2008. I pursued undergraduate work in neuroscience and now pursuing a PharmD.
As a third year pharmacy student, I am proficient in all of the math and science skills tested on this exam. Furthermore, after scoring in the 99th percentile in the reading and writing sections of the PCAT exam, I am also qualified to work with students on the reading and English portions of the TEAS.
