In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a K-12 certified special education teacher. I do 1:1 ABA, parent training, and socialization. I have been teaching students on the ASD spectrum since I began teaching. I have found that no two children are alike, and do I modify my approach to best meet their needs. Some of these students are nonverbal, some can read but have difficulty with abstract concepts. These students can absolutely be taught we have to listen to them to know what they need, and assume they do understand even if their expressive language levels are impaired.
I am a K-12 certified special education teacher, and have taught students with learning disabilities all of my professional career. I would like to note that the term dyslexia means lack of words.
