I am a PhD candidate with 9 years of combined teaching and tutoring experience. I am passionate about teaching - it is a fulfilling moment as a teacher and tutor to witness a student grow in confidence, improve academic work and grades, and above all, develop a solid understanding of the material.
History and government studies are evolving stories about who we are and where we go with decision-making, solving or entering into conflicts, and how society changes. In American history, or even the classics, for example, we are also changing and testing our ideas about democracy and our roles. To say I love studying history and government is perhaps an understatement!
I specialize in American History, European History, the Classics, Government and Politics, Political Science, Social Studies, English Literature, Writing, and developing critical thinking and research skills.
One of my goals for each session is to keep students challenged, but not overwhelmed by the subject matter. I do assign homework after each session, and I provide periodic assessments for students and parents to track their improvements. I also develop study guides for students as they begin studying for exams.
I am generally available after 5 pm Monday through Friday, and 9 to 5 over the weekend. I can travel to students or can work with them online. My base rate for in-person lessons is $30 an hour and my base rate for online tutoring is $25 per hour.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
