Hi! I’m Radhika. I’m in a Masters program at Teachers College, Columbia University and have worked with elementary students for the last 2 years as an assistant/ substitute and student teacher. Teaching is a second career for me and I really think I have found my calling and purpose. Especially being an elementary teacher since this is the time when students learn so many new things but most importantly learn how to learn and how to think for themselves. I aim to draw students into subjects they find the most annoying by showing them how they can engage with the subject and come out a winner.

As a teacher, my philosophy is to be "Warm Demander" for my students every single day. A teacher who approaches my students with unconditional positive regard, knows my students and their cultures well and insists they perform to a higher standard.

I have 2 years of experience working with small groups and helping individual students approach their most dreaded subjects in a third and fourth grade classroom. I enjoy teaching all common core subjects but am most passionate about Literacy (Reading and writing) and math.
I absolutely love math - now this isn’t because I was particularly good at it myself when I was in grade school, but because I know that math can become something students love and then in turn they become such confident and strong learners. This is invaluable as a learning tool.
I love showing students the simple elegance and beauty in mathematics and using manipulatives and other techniques to help them understand concepts and gain mastery over foundational principles that will last them forever.
When it comes to reading, this is a critical life skill and teaches students to become thinkers. I strongly believe in showing students that they can activate their own critical thinking and questioning skills through reading.

I’d love to help your child become a confident learner!
Thank you :)
