My career development (over 38 years) has exposed me to a comprehensive, broad and varied, high-level experience (in the Public/Private and Military sectors), in all phases of sound office/field and professional practice. I have placed a very special emphasis on the sensitive and complex relationship(s) and very important coordination needs of my clients, their contractors and any/all consultants, this require very good interpersonal relationship skills - which I can easily & effectively teach and/or mentor the development of - to my charges (students) as I have done before!
I am seeking a challenging yet interesting venue allowing me to mentor, manage and motivate a new group of talented and highly motivated neophytes/students in the synergistic pursuit of addressing/mitigating a common tasking/assignment successful resolution on time and as complete as the student can mange to fulfill (i.e. not design the project but instead utilizing the Socratic method to draw/ferret out the best results possible from the individual).
Funded by the New York State Foundation for the Arts (1981), I developed a “Built Environment Workshop Program” for public school students as an “Architect in Residence”, with the hope of developing a comprehensive workbook/seminar program to be implemented by any school, public or private, wishing to acquaint their students, in a very entertaining visual and highly educational, systematic process, with the scope, functions, vocabulary of the Architectural profession. I also taught a group of 5th and 6th grade N.Y.C.B.O.E. students (1981/2) and a fifth grade class (1993) in Scarsdale Elementary school a series of “Learning to look at Architecture” year long hands-on seminars and workshops.
I have spent over 39+ years mentoring, managing and motivating my staff in house and as an outside consultant in the pursuit of a successful project completion and I can transfer that level of advise and experience to my student(s) individually or in a small group! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native speaker who was born in the USA and I have traveled extensively in the US NAVY throughout the world and was stationed in Crete @ Souda Bay!
I have mentored my children and their friends in learning Greek while they were in school (Greek).
I have helped friends, colleagues, and neighbors translate Greek to English and visa versa!
I can honestly affirm that I think in Greek and English and can switch with great deal of ease between the two!
