Bio

I am a previously tenured New York City English teacher. As an undergraduate student at Manhattan College, I double majored in English and Secondary Education. I earned my Master's in American Fine and Decorative Art from Sotheby's Institute of Art, New York with my thesis titled, "Rockwell Kent's 'realization of the brotherly union of men': Interpretive Illustrations for Moby Dick." I am a previously tenured New York City English teacher. As an undergraduate student at Manhattan College, I double majored in English and Secondary Education. I earned my Master's in American Fine and Decorative Art from Sotheby's Institute of Art, New York with my thesis titled, "Rockwell Kent's 'realization of the brotherly union of men': Interpretive Illustrations for Moby Dick." As an 11th Grade English teacher at Herbert H. Lehman High School, I prepared students for the English Regents and SAT exams. Upon leaving my position, I worked for Kitebridge, Inc. in Glen Cove, NY as an SAT and TOEFL test prep instructor for international boarding students. This position focused on test preparation, college application, and scholarship application essay writing. While at Kitebridge, Inc. I began tutoring one-to-one.

I have found tutoring particularly rewarding because of the attention and tailored approach to personal achievement. I enjoy getting to know each student and finding their fit for success. I am patient but persistent and believe every student can excel given the appropriate time and resources.

I am an outstanding English tutor because I recognize formulaic strategies for standardized testing, while maintaining an appreciation for the writer's style. There is a moment in all writing samples where a student can express themselves and stand out from the crowd. I believe with practice and patience, any student can recognize where they can deviate from standardized testing's rigid constructs.

Beyond testing, I make an excellent Literature tutor for students because I take the time to find ways for students to relate to themes and broader commentary on times and society.

I encourage students looking to enhance their love of reading, writing skills, or test scores to contact me to begin tutoring sessions.
