As a school and district administrator, and teacher, I was part of a team responsible for the success of thousands of students. The rewards were powerful and varied in scope. The greatest rewards, however, always came from the times I was able to spend with individual students in a one to one environment.
My greatest desire goes far beyond helping students be successful with their coursework, to have them become lifelong lovers of reading and writing. Guiding a student toward that goal is the greatest work fulfillment I have ever experienced. Although I have retired from district administration, I wish to continue working with students, individually, and supporting them as they take ownership of their own education.
I have many successful years as an English teacher and as a Special Education teacher, facilitating successful high school completion for multiple generations of students, ensuring that they not only have the skills required for college and career readiness, but, also, fine tuning the process to empower them to be college and career successful. Achievement in Language Arts is the currency by which most other disciplines measure success.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am retired from district administration where I was responsible for overseeing the evaluation of skills for thousands of students, and designing programming to meet their needs at all levels. I strongly believe that facility with writing is a necessary component to succeed in reading and all other language arts. Prior to my time as an administrator I was primarily a teacher of language arts at all K-12 levels.
