About Juliann

Previously, I designed web sites and am capable of helping students who need help with learning computer programs. I have tutored students in Algebra, Calculus and Trigonometry. Most of my qualifications are based on my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Las Vegas, Nevada.

I have a knowledge of American history, World War II and an intricate knowledge of Russian history. Currently enrolled at University of Nevada, Reno -- I will become a professor of Mathematics in 2015. My tutoring techniques include one-on-one writing sessions based on the reading of American and Italian short stories and essays.

To keep abreast of a student's improvement I will assign quizzes and offer literary criticism. I enjoy teaching history, presentation skills and writing because I feel these instill confidence and this type of learning is therapeutic and inspirational; and, it is a practical way of expanding the human mind.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Illustrator

I have found Illustrator to be useful as an option for people who need numerical computing equipment. It came with my Adobe Pagemaker and Photoshop purchase which allowed me the opportunity to explore its extra potential.

American History

The students I have encountered who enjoy American history are particularly interested in how the West was discovered and tales of the gold rush. My learning has included these as well as comprehensive studies of important events of the Eastern part of the United States.

Bible Studies

I am qualified to teach the Bible as Literature because of a class I took at UNLV with Norma Engburg.

English

The subjects I am qualified to teach are Botany and American Literature.
I am capable of giving students information on nutrition while instilling scientific facts as a result of graduation from UNLV.

European History

My focus while doing graduate work at Yale has been on Scottish, French and Russian royalty. My Master's degree thesis details improper events between the time of the Russian Revolution and 2007.

I have even written two published novels, both about Jimmy Page.

Government & Politics

Classes with me include valuable advice from experts at Harvard Law School. My knowledge base of the United States government is comprised, neatly, of biographical details on Andrew Johnson and Woodrow Wilson.

Grammar

In my Fundamentals of English Grammar instruction, the itinerary consists of learning to read, rather than glossing over.

Literature

My preferred method of teaching literature is controversial yet pleasurable. Since I left the university I have chosen to teach by way of writing books and I have written three historical novels.

Microsoft Access

I have used the this particular program in my real estate investment firm since 2007. For inventory and purchasing records, I show my order summaries easily with all reports of shippers and suppliers. I can teach you to build and preserve your information on a compact database in your computer that can be used by you and your team.

World History

Part of what makes teaching history so important is it enables us to train our students to refrain from repeating the mistakes of the past. The pupils I have now are gaining the ability to see the world as it actually is and devise their own plans to contribute. I have been a tour guide in the cities of London and Las Vegas in the past and I enjoy taking my students to these places mentally.
