I have been tutoring and teaching math for over five years. I have worked with both high school and college students either one-on-one, online, or in a classroom setting. As far as education, I have both my bachelor's (3.9 GPA) and master's (3.7 GPA) degrees.

I specialize in teaching and tutoring Calculus, Algebra, and Algebra 2. I have been tutoring these subjects at several local colleges and online including Calculus 1 to 3, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, and Algebra 2. These local colleges include Hamilton College in Clinton, NY; Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY; and SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, NY.

This continues to be a very rewarding experience, having the opportunity to help students and enabling them to achieve their full academic potential. I have worked with dozens of college students with a range of math skills. For the majority of those students, I was able to significantly improve their grades and assist them with mastering the subject. I was even able to help those struggling with the course.

In the spring of 2017 I became an instructional substitute for the Rome City School District in Rome, NY where I regularly teach math classes for grades 7 through 12. This includes basic math, Algebra 1/2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus AB/BC. During the 2018-2019 school year, I completed a two month Algebra 1 full-time teaching assignment. For the 2017-2018 school year, I completed a four month Algebra 1 and Geometry full-time teaching assignment. Lastly, for the 2016-2017 school year, I completed a 20 day assignment for an Earth Science class.

My passion for mathematics and tutoring has spanned both my advanced education and professional career. I earned both my bachelor's (summa cum laude) and master's (magna cum laude) degrees in electrical engineering. These engineering programs consist of mathematically-intense curriculums. Furthermore, I participated in an advanced engineering program at Lockheed Martin.

In my profession life, as a President and Chief Scientist of my own company, I continue to regularly apply my mathematical skills to help solve challenging problems for clients. For about 14 years I worked on a broad range of challenging department of defense research projects for the Air Force Research Laboratory. These efforts included a range of complex technologies including radar, multispectral imagery, and radio frequency communications. These programs required me to undertake challenging research, development, and implementation of state-of-the-art mathematical and data processing algorithms.

I have helped students ever since my work as a volunteer tutor with the National Honor Society in high school. I also worked for the math department while pursuing my bachelor’s degree to assist with their pre-calculus program.

For a typical tutoring session, I review key topics and then work closely with the student to work through several sample problems. This provides a personalized assessment of the student’s abilities and their comprehension of the material, as well as, assisting with identifying specific areas where they need the most help. This allows me to tailor the lessons to meet the unique needs of each student.

As far as scheduling, I try to accommodate the needs of each student. I do have a cancellation policy to allow timely scheduling with my other students. I am flexible on meeting location for local students. I live near Rome, NY and am open to traveling within a reasonable driving distance to meet with students.

I truly enjoy math, tutoring, and teaching and look forward to working with you.

French

French

I am fluent in French, have taught foreign languages at the middle school level, and have visited France six times for 2-4 weeks each time. Part of my familiarity with the language is due to the fact that my wife is French. Thus, at both home and during my visits there, I have had a chance to fully emerge myself in the language and am comfortable communicating with native speakers.

Provided a wealth of knowledge

Bill was able to deconstruct various methods and offer insight into the process. He tailored the session around my needs and ensured that I was comfortable with each problem.

Great Tutor

Bill was very helpful and available at a bargain price. He helped my daughter with Advanced Placement Calculus AB and she'll use him again for sure. Thanks, Bill.

Makes sure the whole process is understood

My daughter appreciates how Bill starts with the basic steps and builds from there. In her experience some tutors will jump to a certain point in solving a problem and she may have had an error in the first stages. By starting from the most basic she felt confident in her understanding of all the steps involved. I am happy we found him!

Ready to Help!

This was our first time using this service. Calculus is a difficult subject. Thanks, Bill, for helping my daughter work through some struggling issues.

Understanding and willing to help

Bill takes the time to make sure you understand what he is teaching. He is patient and you can tell he knows what he is doing and knows how to teach it. Bill does a good job of going over the step by step process. Without him I would be falling behind in my math class.
