Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Ear Training

The Eastman School of Music is regarded as perhaps the most academically vigorous music conservatory in the world. We are taught by top music theorists and the classes are very difficult. I never received any grade below an A in any of my Aural Skills/Ear Training classes. Also as an experienced and professional opera singer, I have great experience with sight reading and solfege. I have a great ear and know I would be qualified to teach this.

General Music

The Eastman School of Music provided me with an excellent academic background in Music History, Music Theory, Ear Training, Choir, Voice Repertoire, Acting, Theatre class, Piano, Voice, composition, vocal pedagogy, education, etc. I feel very confident that my training prepared me to teach general music. I can play piano, flute, and am a professional singer with very strong theory, sight reading, and ear training skills.

Sight Singing

The Eastman School of Music is regarded as perhaps the most academically vigorous music conservatory in the world. We are taught by top music theorists and the classes are very difficult. I never received any grade below an A in any of my Aural Skills/Ear Training classes. Also as an experienced and professional opera singer, I have great experience with sight reading and solfege. I have a great ear and know I would be qualified to teach this. As singers we are often required to sight read, especially in church jobs and the like. I feel my skills in this area are particularly strong and I would be very confident in teaching this to students using a combination of piano skills and solfege.

Voice (Music)

I have been singing professionally for many years. I have studied at the Eastman School of Music with Carol Webber for 5 years and before that with Patricia Alexander for 6 years. I have a significant knowledge of vocal pedagogy, have a great ear, and am quite proficient on the piano. I have extensive knowledge of vocal repertoire. I am trained in German, Italian, and French diction. I have taught voice in the past and feel very, very confident I can use my skills in singing and all that I have learned with previous teachers to help my current students.
