About Keith

I am currently in my 4th year of a physics degree at the University of Rochester with minors in math, German, and Russian. I have tutored UofR students, physics majors and non-physics majors alike, in their intro physics courses through the Society of Physics Students since I started attending the university. I did this for the most part simply because I enjoyed physics myself and enjoyed helping others to understand the subject that I get so much pleasure from studying. Studying physics has given me a detailed understanding of math as well.

Through my study of physics I have developed a very detailed understanding of mathematics. These things can only come with practice, and I have been practicing math at a high level since 11th grade. I have also taken two proof-based math courses, so my understanding of the math is not from a purely application side. If you would like to really get into some of the proofs, I can help there as well.

I am a physics major and have been studying the material since high school. I have also spent the duration of my time at university helping others to understand the material through tutoring programs within the university. Whether you want to understand the formulas based on your intuition or you would prefer to see the full derivations of the formulas from the fundamental laws, I can help.

I have been studying German since 8th grade and have vacationed in Germany as well. This duration of exposure to the language has given me a fairly natural ability to speak the language in a colloquial setting. I would by no means consider myself a fluent speaker, but I do have a fairly deep knowledge of the language up to a very high intermediate level.

I am free most evenings and do really enjoy helping others to understand this material. If your teachers or professors just aren't explaining things to you in a way that makes sense, I encourage you to contact me!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

I took a course on this subject during my freshman year at the University of Rochester as part of the calculus sequence required for the physics degree, and I received an A in said course. In addition to this, differential equations occur very regularly in the physics curriculum, so the material is constantly fresh in my mind. This is a course I have helped several of my friends with in the past, so I am familiar with some of the usual problems students run into with this material.

Linear Algebra

I have taken two courses at the University of Rochester on this subject, one being non-proof-based in the calculus sequence and the other being a proof-based course taken to complete my math minor. I also assisted a few friends with the material during the time I studied abroad last semester in Australia, so the information is still fresh in my mind. I am currently in my 4th year of a physics degree at the University of Rochester.
