About Earl

I love to teach. I have a Deaf brother and a hearing sister who is an ASL interpreter. I am currently a graduate student at Gallaudet University studying Sign Language Education (MASLED). I am looking to increase my tutoring and teaching experience before I graduate in August 2017.

I have an American Sign Language Proficiency Interview rating of 4. According to American Sign Language Teaching Association, ASL professionals with ratings of 4 or higher are qualified to apply for certification. I aim to get my certification by Summer 2016.

I believe that continuous interaction with Deaf people either in person and/or online is the one of best resources a student can use to learn ASL quickly.

Please do not hesitate to contact me anytime if you have any questions. I will reply within 1 business day. I look forward being your tutor.

Cheers

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Hard Of Hearing

I am Deaf since birth. I have been called, "Hard of Hearing," "Hearing Impaired," "Sign Language User," and "ASL signer" are other few words I have been known as because of my hearing ability. My left ear: 100 DB. My Right ear: 95 DB. I have an American Sign Language Proficiency Interview rating of 4.

Sign Language

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. I am currently a graduate student at Gallaudet University studying Sign Language Education (MASLED). I expect to graduate this August 2016 with a master degree. American Sign Language is my native language (first language). English is my second language. I use ASL and English in my daily life. If you are familiar with ASLPI (ASL Proficiency Interview), my rating is 4.
