About Andrew

As a current college undergraduate student, I've had my fair share of experience with tutoring high schoolers. For me, tutoring for students in grades K-12 has been one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences that I could have hoped for. In the past, I've tutored high-school level chemistry and English, as well as elementary level math, reading, and writing.

I think that forming friendships with the students I tutor is something that is essential to the learning process. I've found that learning from a friend or from someone that you can talk to makes studying much more efficient and successful. As such, I strive to become friends with the students I tutor in the hopes that they feel comfortable and more willing to learn.

I'd be happy to travel to a student's house for lessons, if that is the best location for them. However, I'd also be open to hosting lessons at my own house, where a student would always be welcome.

I look forward to hearing from you, and hope to help you succeed in whatever it is you may be studying!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Writing

In addition to having experience tutoring high school students in subjects such as writing, I was also a Writing Fellow at my undergraduate college and an associate editor at my college's school newspaper. I earned a BA in English Literature and am currently enrolled in a graduate program for Secondary Education - English. I also have taken both high school AP English courses.
