East Stroudsburg University (Master's)
SUNY Binghamton University (PhD)
Hello! My name is Anna and I am an experienced tutor in the Scranton-Wilkes Barre area seeking pupils who want to improve their writing, reading, and test-taking skills. I have a bachelor's degree in both history and political science and minors in education and music from Saint Vincent College, a nationally-rated liberal arts school in the Pittsburgh area. I received my master's degree in history from East Stroudsburg in May 2015, where I worked for two years as a graduate and teaching assistant. In August 2016, I will be receiving my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from King's College; my coursework at King's had been invaluable for staying abreast of current trends and teaching strategies in education. Finally, I will be working as a Teaching Assistant and taking classes in the doctoral history program at SUNY Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY.
I have taken the SAT's, Praxis, and GRE exams and have been involved in extensive preparatory classes for those exams. The students I tutor have the benefit of my effective study strategies and test-prep experience; most of those who work with me to prepare for the Praxis and SAT have all achieved their desired scores. My expertise and tutoring experience also extends to helping students create college application materials: resumes, admission essays, and cover letters that stand out. Also, as an employee of the Saint Vincent Admissions office as Director of Training for four years, I have garnered an astute sense of what quality higher education institutions are looking for in terms of college applications and interviews.
In addition to helping your son or daughter excel in their current elementary, high school, or college courses, I look forward to developing the necessary goals, skills, and other critical tools that will ensure that they achieve their educational goals beyond their graduation. Initially, I prefer to meet with both parent and student to establish tutoring goals and discuss learning strengths and challenges. Then, students are welcome to make their own regular appointment times at their own convenience and in the location of their choice. Please contact me at any time to discuss your student's needs. My daughter had her first session today and felt completely at ease with her most difficult subject. I could see the relief on my daughter's face after a very productive first session. We scheduled another right there on the spot. Anna is a fabulous female role model as well. She was able to demonstrate to my daughter, with sharing her own achievements, that dedication to academics can bring great accomplishment. Anna was personable, professional and caught right on to the specific areas my daughter needed help with in algebra, realizing we had a limited timeframe to complete a lot of work.
Anna is an organized and knowledgeable tutor who has evidently taught many students before. To help with the GRE analytical writing section, she looked over my essays, wrote comments, and in-person analyzed them in detail but also gave overarching suggestions. I sometimes had to ask for explicit examples of some of her recommendations, but she answered them very clearly. Effective tutor that I highly recommend for GREP prep!
Anna is exactly what my daughter needed she is very good at what she does and my daughter loves her Anna helped my daughter with everything from math to social studies and test taking and has really been a great help
Anna was great! We put a plan together and I am really satisfied and confident that I will be ready for my test!
Anna and I went over what I have prepared while studying for the GRE's up until now. We also went over a study plan and check list to follow for the remaining sessions.
Anna is working with my 8th grade daughter to improve her math and organization skills! So far, she has responded very, very well to Anna! Anna is so patient and thorough and I know this is going to improve my daughter's grades, but more importantly her self confidence!
We have been taking online English tutoring with Anna, for my son. It's been just two sessions but he likes the classes very much. Anna is fun, engaging and interactive. She is well prepared for the classes and makes him understand all the concepts. We are happy to have found a great tutor!
I highly recommend Anna as an educational tutor. My daughter has worked with Anna for almost a year now and really benefited. My daughter is in seventh grade and has been working with Anna on sharpening her Math skills. She has enjoyed her weekly sessions and benefited from her one on one relationship with Anna. Her grades have improved this year and her confidence level is high.
Anna is an extraordinary educator. She forms a positive relationship with her students to help them round out their academic skills and build their determination to succeed. She is also playful, kind and very reliable and punctual.
Anna began tutoring my 6 year old daughter, Addison, in the middle of the second quarter. Within that month and a half, her language arts grade increased 3 points and her reading level went up 4 levels. She is patient with Addison when she becomes antsy after a long day. Anna always comes on time and with a selection of books for Addison to read. She assessed Addison's strengths and weaknesses quickly, and developed a personalized study guide for her to use each week.
Anna is an amazing tutor. She has become a part of our family. Addison looks forward to her coming each week and would rather study with Anna than me. We can't express our thanks to Anna for her dedication to Addison's academic success. Our family would be lost without her!
Anna was a very good tutor and one of the most patient ones I have had so far. Very eager to help you understand and driven to get it right. I enjoyed my session with her and look forward to using her in the future.
Anna helped me refine and perfect my college essay, a task which she managed to do outstandingly well. Throughout the whole session she stayed clear, lucid, and cooperative. Her input on my essay was great, and I am a lot more confident about my applications at this point. Great job!
Anna was able to meet Corinne's unique academic needs. She was reliable, even with the long trip to Honesdale. I would recommend her to anyone.
Anna was a lot of help when I needed to pass the PAPA. She is very patient and goes out of her way to make sure you fully understand the questions. Anna would bring extra questions with her to sessions that she knew I was having trouble with.
Anna is tutoring my daughter in reading. And they have such a great time learning together. Anna is helping my daughter to learn her letters and they made flash cards. Which my daughter loves to practice with.
Anna was an amazing tutor for the SAT's and ACT's! She showed me how time management and looking at the test in a different aspect could change my scores completely. With meeting only 6 or 7 times, I raised my score on the SAT's by close to 50 points, and my ACT score ended up being an overall 24 with reading as my highest. I can't imagine what my scores would be without her help!!
Anna has worked with my son a lot on SAT and ACT testing. He meets weekly with her and has never dreaded it and realizes how much she has truly helped him. She is well prepared, very nice, and extremely knowledgeable. You cannot go wrong with her. Thanks Again Anna!
She is very great tutor, flexible, responds fast, and always on time. She knows what to do. I recommend taking her when you need help.
Anna has been the perfect tutor for our reluctant learner. She has a wonderful way of keeping the sessions positive while keeping him on track. I love that she has a variety of creative ways of teaching him to ensure he stays engaged and motivated.
For the last two years, I had many tutors to help me to learn the English language, and to improve my reading and writing. Among all of these great tutors, Anna is absolutely the best. She has a knowledge and background of everything and she is willing to help with any topic even if it is far from her specific major. I say that because I couldn't have succeeded in my business classes without her help. I would say that I'm lucky to have her as my tutor.
I am very pleased with Anna's tutoring session with my daughter. She was really accommodating and has a very pleasant personality. Anna is very patient and seems to get my daughter's full attention. I look forward to her working with my daughter.
Anna is a lovely young lady who is very patient and very willing to help her clients. She is very accommodating and makes herself available. She seems to have a good understanding of the subject and she explains it very well to me. I am very pleased with with Anna.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Math, especially in elementary and middle school years, can be one of the most dreaded subjects for young learners. I am skilled in not only helping students succeed in the classroom, but developed better confidence with math, including Algebra 1.

I am an experienced tutor in Praxis I preparation. I typically assess a student's competence in the reading, writing, and math section, then personalize my approach according to their readiness level for the exam. Once students have a test date scheduled, I draft a manageable study plan that has them focus on "chunks" of reading, math, writing, or vocabulary building.
I have taken preparation courses for the Praxis I, and have also then mentored other students at a College preparing for the exam. In addition to coaching students on navigating the types of problems typical of the Praxis I exam, I help them to improve their overall writing skills and reading comprehension with simulated whole practice tests and essay completion.
