Rate is per hour. Multiple hour rate is as follows: 2-5 hours at $35 per hour; above 5 hours at $30 per hour.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a permanent K-12 ESOL certificate and have a MSEd as my graduate degree. I have taught in a K-6 public school for the last 11 years. Teaching ESL through the content areas of math, science and social studies has contributed to my extensive knowledge of curriculum, standards and student needs as well as methods of instruction in K-6 setting, which is enhanced by my graduate study of education as my major.
I have an undergraduate degree in TESOL and have been an ESL teacher in my native country as well as in the Rochester, NY school district. I have 18 years of experience in the field and hold a New York state permanent certificate.
I have completed the Structure of the English Language course during my TESOL degree, which includes a study of the phonemic structure of English.
